SURABAYA – Several elements of society on Tuesday (14/5) met the Chairman of Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti who was visiting the electoral district in East Java.
There were three main aspirations conveyed to the Chairman, including shipping, martial arts athletes, and tax issues.
Regarding shipping, shipping entrepreneurs in Surabaya who serve Surabaya routes to Eastern Indonesia (especially Papua) complained about government policies related to restrictions on imports of used ships that must be under 15 years old.
This was conveyed by Rudi Antonio, representing shipping entrepreneurs throughout Surabaya.
According to him, the entrepreneurs requested that there be a special policy for shipping companies serving Eastern Indonesia to be able to import ships above 15 years old.
“Through the DPD RI, we leave aspirations to be conveyed to the government so that there are facilities or specificities for ships serving Eastern Indonesia so that we can import used ships over 15 years old. This relates to a very large cost, and of course a loss for us,” Rudi said at the Kadin Building, East Java.
He said, Permendag No. 20/2021 regulates cargo ships to carry goods and passengers with a maximum age of 15 years when imported.
“The regulation does not make sense for shipping entrepreneurs, especially those with routes to Eastern Indonesia. We have problems when we want to rejuvenate the ship as its age is still productive and the price is expensive. Meanwhile, those of us who usually operate in the eastern region, we go there with a full ship and return to Surabaya with an empty one,” he explained.
Responding to the complaint, LaNyalla explained that the regulation was related to shipping safety.
He suggested that the association of shipping entrepreneurs convey these aspirations to many related parties. In addition to DPD RI, these also can be conveyed to DPR RI and related ministries.
Regarding sports, LaNyalla received aspirations from the Head of the Malang City Branch of PSHT Hary Setyawan.
To LaNyalla as Chairman of the PSHT Board of Trustees, Hary reported that training facilities were still minimal even though this is needed to produce martial arts athletes, especially from PSHT in facing various championships.
“We are thoroughly preparing the athletes although there are still shortcomings with the training equipment,” said Harry.
LaNyalla hoped that PSHT would synergise with many parties, both government and private agencies, in fostering so that outstanding children would emerge.
Lastly, LaNyalla received a meeting with the Head of the Tax Service Office (KPP) Pratama Surabaya Karangpilang Eko Radnadi Susetio.
To the Chairman of DPD RI, Eko said that his party had made many efforts in improving taxpayer compliance.
“We routinely conduct socialization activities. The activities also vary from online tax return filing assistance, offline assistance by collaborating with other parties such as sub-districts, organizing tax classes, and also inviting taxpayers who have not reported the annual tax return to be guided directly,” he said.
LaNyalla, who was accompanied by the Chairman of East Java Kadin Adik Dwi Putranto and Chairman of Surabaya Kadin M Ali Affandi then encouraged KPPP Surabaya Karangpilang to conduct socialisation to entrepreneurs who are members of East Java Kadin.
“The entrepreneurs in Kadin really need understanding and assistance so that the annual tax reports and others are correct and not subject to fines or legal problems,” he concluded.
