BANYUWANGI – Blambangan Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Banyuwangi, will soon complete its health facilities with chemotherapy services. This service is planned to operate in early 2025.
“We are preparing everything. Alhamdulillah, our infrastructure is complete. For human resources, it will be ready by the end of this year Insha Allah. So, the service will be opened at the beginning of the year. It will start running in January 2025,” said Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani when monitoring the preparation of chemotherapy facilities at Blambangan Hospital, Friday (29/11/2024).
Chemotherapy is part of the healing options for patients with moderate and severe (advanced) stages of cancer. It is a treatment procedure that uses powerful chemicals to stop the growth of new cancer cells with the aim of killing cancer cell division.
“With this facility, patients no longer need to be referred out of town to get chemotherapy services. This will make it easier for patients to reach the service and reduce accommodation costs for patients and families,” he said.
In addition, Ipuk also visited the cardiac centre of RSUD Blambangan. The hospital has been designated by the Ministry of Health as a national referral network hospital for cardiovascular (heart) diseases.
Currently, it has a variety of supporting medical equipment that is quite sophisticated. Including Cath Lab (Cardiac Catheterisation) services or installation of heart rings that cannot be done by all hospitals.
Ipuk also observed a number of services at Blambangan Hospital such as services in gynaecology, cardiology, and radiology.
Deputy Director of RSUD Blambangan Budi Priambodo said, chemotherapy facilities and infrastructure are already available in the hospital. Including paramedics who will be in charge.
“At the end of this year, the doctor who specialises in chemotherapy will be in Banyuwangi. So, chemotherapy services will be opened in January 2025,” said Budi.
